MOVE in Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa Yoga is a ‘flow’ between poses. The word “vinyasa” translates to “place in a special way,” which is often interpreted as linking breath and movement. Vinyasa classes include breathing techniques that focus on the transition of the flow between poses. We move through a varied series of postures that link in a way that allows you to move with your breath. We will repeat the flow so you have a chance to become familiar with the sequence and see yourself progress with each class. Due to its faster class pace, many people are drawn to Vinyasa classes for its fitness applications.

BREATH with Hatha Flow

Hatha yoga is usually a gentle class with basic yoga poses. It places special emphasis on controlled breathing while moving. Hatha yoga derives its name from the Sanskrit words for sun and moon, and it’s designed to balance opposing forces. The balance in hatha yoga might come from strength and flexibility, physical and mental energy, or breath and the body. This type of class would probably not be considered a high energy class, such as a power yoga. In this class, we move our bodies slowly and deliberately into different poses that challenge our strength and flexibility, while at the same time focusing on deep breathing and mindfulness to create an amazing mind-body connection. This class is a great starting point for those who want to learn yoga at a slower pace and still get all the benefits.

STILL in Yin Yoga

In Yin Yoga class, we hold poses for long periods of time, from one to five minutes or more. It is a type of yoga with roots in martial arts as well as yoga, and it’s designed to increase circulation in the joints and improve flexibility.
While other forms of yoga focus on the major muscle groups, yin yoga targets the body’s connective tissues. It is believed that by releasing our tissues in this way, we can remove blocked energy in our body. Holding poses longer benefits the mind as well as the body, providing a chance to practice being still. Gravity is usually going to be the biggest factor getting into a pose, rather than relying on the muscles. Anyone who want to soothe their body after a long day of hard work or those who overexerted themselves during the week should treat themselves to a calm, relaxing Yin yoga class.

FIT from core

A fun class in which we work on building strength and flexibility with a strong focus on the core - not just abs but the back and pelvic floor too. The class is generally more active and is done at a quicker pace than other styles of yoga. You will soon feel the benefits as a strong core will improve posture and reduce the incidence of back pain and other issues. The variation of sequences keeps the brain engaged while you work all muscle groups in the body. Sometime we add more fun by including tribal dances or primal movement. Sometime we add more challenging poses to tone your muscles.

We offer a free community introductory class for those who would like to explore yoga the first time.
